Although Art Licensing isn’t a new term there are many people who haven’t heard about it before. Let me explain…

In actuality the world of art licensing is all around us. Take a look at the pattern on your shirt, your notebook, your shower curtain, your beach towels, your fabulous rain boots you just bought, and your nephew’s cute new onsie. Most of these have been designed by artists just like us. These artists, instead of selling their original designs outright, have granted the merchandiser the right (license) to use their artwork on specific products, for a set amount of time. Do any of you remember Lisa Frank’s notebooks and stickers? What about Paul Frank and his cute little monkeys? These are great examples of art licensing showing up on a variety of products. At bre+jer we collaborate with merchandisers to place our designs on party supplies, stationery, clothing, home decor, bedding and more.
